Sketch Along at the Mason Jar

Come draw among friends while enjoying the relaxed bluegrass music of the musical group that calls themselves, Mason Jar Acoustic Jam.

Location: Mason Jar Café back patio (210 Water St, Benton Harbor, MI)
Date: Friday, July 24
Time: 12:30–2:30 p.m.

Spend time slowing down, observing carefully, and discovering buildings and people that make our community unique. No drawing experience is necessary.

Registration:
All are welcome to attend. Please register so we know how many people to prepare for. Registration also provides opportunity to stay informed about future sketch-along sessions.

The first 15 registered participants for each session will receive a free sketchbook and drawing pen, and be notified via email ahead of the event.

Youth must be accompanied (on the premises) by a responsible adult during the the event.

What to Bring:

  • Sketch pad, sketchbook, or copy paper on a clipboard

  • Felt pens or dark pencils

  • Water bottle (optional)

  • Hat and/or sunscreen (optional)

  • Curiosity

What to Expect:

  • A supportive environment for observation and representation

  • Learn of simple sketching techniques

  • Encouragement from professionals and assistants

  • Sharing and connecting with others

  • Emphasis is on seeing and exploring—not on perfection.

Meet the Director

Mark Moreno

Mark Moreno is a professor of Architecture, an educator, and the founder of Renaissance Kids Architecture Camp. For nearly two decades, he has worked with more than 1,000 children through hands-on architectural experiences that encourage creativity, observation, and a deeper appreciation for the communities around them.
